Top Tips : How to host a crafternoon

The beauty of making jewelry from home is that you can make as much mess as you want, go at your own pace or use the time to completely zone out and put all your stresses to one side- there is nothing more satisfying than spending a blissful few hours making away by ourselves.  However sometimes we love to find a few friends and host a little crafternoon, laughing, making and bonding over all things handmade. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Find your group – You’ll be surprised how many closet crafters there are out there. Start talking to colleagues, people in shops, Twitter and see who would be interested in having a making day - we have made so many friends this way.

Sort out a venue – it doesn’t have to be fancy, just somewhere with enough space and light to work on your projects. If you don’t want to invite strangers into your home, then ask a local café or pub if you can hire a table for a couple of hours.

Refreshments – You know how seriously we take our tea-breaks here are Jewelry From Home. Get everyone attending to bring a cake/something savory, it’s a great way to break the ice if people don’t know each other. Choose your activity – We have so many tutorials on our site and of course our amazing online courses, pick one that you all enjoy and work through the steps together. We recommend keeping it quite simple as you want to allow for talking time!

Split the cost – We always get carried away in a craft shop and end up spending our monthly craft budget in about 5 seconds. Sharing with friends means the cost is reduced and you are not left with loads of half used craft supplies in your craft cupboard.

We hope you have enjoyed our tips, if you have any of your own then please share them with us in the comments section or on Facebook or Twitter.
